Easy Exercise Addiction

What if I told you that in the next 21 days you could do 10,500 mini-crunches and never break a sweat? Or, what if you could walk 20 miles in the next 20 days and not be tired? What if easy and gentle exercises became as natural and habitual as brushing your teeth in the morning? Well, I'm telling you, that's what happens when you take that first step.

Our bodies were meant to move. Our muscles were designed to provide strength for daily activity.

A recent *Mayo Clinic article cited 7 benefits of regular physical activity:

Exercise controls weightExercise combats health conditions and diseasesExercise improves moodExercise boost energyExercise promotes better sleepExercise puts the spark back into your sex lifeExercise can be fun

When we were kids we ran and jumped, climbed trees and played sports. It was fun and natural. As we get older, too often we think of exercise is a time-consuming, stressful, painful activity that is easily put off. Why not make it easy and fun again?

If you happen to live in a safe neighborhood, an early morning stroll can be magnificent. You get to watch the world come alive as the sun creeps above the horizon. Photographers know this time of day colors are their most vibrant. The birds and squirrels greet the day with singing and scampering about thrilled that a new day has arrived. Your stroll can be very short, maybe 10 minutes. Or, you can easily walk a mile in 25 minutes. Unless the morning is hot (like it often is in Texas) you won't even perspire.

A recent article focused on mini-crunches entitled Lose Belly Fat While You Watch TV features a ridiculously easy way to flatten your stomach almost effortlessly while you watch your favorite television show.

You might say, "Well, I'm just too busy. My work is too demanding. I just don't have time to exercise." I'm going to guarantee you this... you will have time to lie in a hospital bed after a heart attack. You will have time to prick your finger and check your blood throughout the day when you're diagnosed with diabetes. And you will have time to get your knee or hip replaced because you've been carrying an extra 50 pounds around you for the last 10 years. You will have time for all of that. And the big difference is... light, easy exercise is actually enjoyable.

We see countless ads on TV that either show you wearing some vibrating apparatus that makes you lose weight and firm your muscles while you sit in your recliner and eat popcorn, or, you see a room full of athletes sweating their brains out trying to lose 50 pounds in 90 days. For most of us this is either unbelievable or undoable. Essentially, it's pointless. What can you do that's enjoyable and not particularly strenuous? That's what you ought to be doing. You will be amazed at what a very small amount of daily exercise will do for you in a month's time. The thing is... the more you do, the more you can and want to do. When small amounts of daily exercise become as habitual as brushing your teeth, you are well on your way to a healthier life and a slimmer, more attractive body.
